Just a few notes before I give you more information on Meet the Teacher night (Wednesday):
Assignment Notebooks:
In Kindergarten, the assignment notebooks were used for parents and teachers to communicate. However, in first grade they are used for the students to write down homework assignments and activities done that day. If you need to write me a note, please write on a separate piece of paper and send it to school. Make sure your child knows about the note, because there is a special place to put the notes in the mornings so I don’t miss anything. Also, I check my email every morning. I try to get to my voice mail, but writing a note or emailing me would be the best way to reach me.

P.E. Shoes:
Mr. Russell, the P.E. teacher, would like for every student to have P.E. shoes at school. If your child usually wears sandals or some other kind of slip off shoe, please send P.E. shoes as soon as possible. If shoes could be here by tomorrow, that would be preferred. (Also, fresh socks once in a while is good)
Folders:
In Kindergarten, the teachers put each child’s folder together for him/her at the end of the day. I will not be doing that this year. Each child will be responsible for putting their own papers in their folders and getting them home to you. Make sure you check all of the papers in your child’s folder, as an important paper may have made its way to the back.
Welcome to First Grade and I look forward to a great year!
