Mrs. Rogers Fifth Grade News

by Alicia Rogers

September 9th - 11th

Our school year is underway, and after a couple of weeks of some confusion and adjustments, we have finally settled into our routines. This year Mrs. Olson and I get the pleasure of working with both classes for Reading, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math. This is my first year in fifth grade, I am really enjoying the students and the experience!

One of the goals in fifth grade is to develop organizational skills that will help make the transition to Middle School easier. Establishing a quiet place at home, that is free of distractions, for students to complete homework is important. Also, asking students about homework, checking their assignment pads, and looking over their completed assignments will help students to develop good study skills habits. The students will have an average of 50 minutes of homework a night.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions: at school (309)465-3851, at home (309)456-3423, or by e-mail arogers@avonschools.us (school) / arogers_ka@yahoo.com (home).
