Kindernews #7: Positive Behavior Incentive, Student of the Week,
“Fuel Up
to Play 60,” Halloween at School, & Early Dismissal
1. Positive Behavior Incentive Activities will take place from time
to time again this year. These activities are focused on helping
the students of our elementary school make good, safe choices. The
PTA is partnering with the administration, teachers, and other
school staff to make these activities more exciting and inviting.
Only those students who have consistently made good choices are
given the opportunity to go to these activities. The students who
need more practice at these skills participate in alternate
activities to help them practice making better choices, so they
will be able to participate the next time there is a positive
behavior activity. J
2. Student of the Week Posters were put up for the first time this
week. All students will be honored by being showcased. The children
are chosen randomly, so it will be a surprise, when your child
shows up on the bulletin board near the main entrance. When your
child brings home the “Student of the Week” award, take the award
with your child to the Avon Market for a free ice cream
treat.
3. The Farm Bureau/University of Illinois Nutrition Specialist,
Mrs. Weigers and the fifth grade classes are working together to
encourage students to become more healthy. Therefore, your child
was given a mini “Fuel Up to Play 60” information sheet. This goes
along with the cardboard stacking display next to the display case
at the front entrance.
4. Halloween at School is coming soon. We will gather at school, in
costume, on Thursday, October 29th. The Halloween Parade will begin
at 8:30 a.m. After the children parade to the high school, through
the junior high, and back to the elementary All Purpose Room, they
will return to our classroom for a party. From what I understand,
the Party Parents are working hard on games, a craft project, and
treats for the children.
5. School Will Dismiss at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29th.
Teachers will then be involved in School Improvement activities
until Parent /Teacher Conferences begin at 4:00 p.m. Conferences
end that evening at 8:00 p.m. The next day, Friday, October 30th,
conferences will continue from 8:00 a.m. to noon. There will be no
student attendance on Friday, October 30th.
Thank you,
Mrs. B.
