Phil the Groundhog emerged from his burrow and told us to expect six more weeks of winter! Please make sure students continue to dress according to the weather, because we try to go outside at recess as much as possible (above 20 degrees) to take in some fresh air.
Early Release:Friday, February 12th SIP Day
No school :Monday, February 15th President’s Day
Midterms, Wednesday, February 17th
Spring Pictures:Wednesday, February 24th
Midterms:the middle of the third quarter ends on Friday, February 12th. Midterm reports will go out the following Wednesday, February 17th.
Valentine’s Day Parties: Our class party will be on Friday, February 12th at 10:30-11:30pm. If students bring Valentines to exchange, they need to bring one for every child in the class. Class lists have been sent home.
The parent volunteers for the Valentine’s Day Party are Carol Lock and Bonnie Frakes. Please contact one of these wonderful ladies if you would like to help with the party or send treats.
Flower Sales: Student Council is selling carnations again this year. Carnations cost $1.50 each and come in red, yellow, white, and pink. Orders must be returned to the school by Monday, February 8th. Order forms will be sent out today.
Accelerated Reader Points Reminder: As I stated in the January newsletter, students must have 35 AR points total for the third quarter. Please encourage your student to read every night. You can also check their points from home at https://hosted216.renlearn.com/702302/.
Parent Connect Online: You can now view your student’s grades online though our school website: http://www.avonschools.us/ . If you have not received a login/password, please contact Adam Powell at: apowell@avonschools.us . I encourage everyone to check out the web site and view your student’s grades, discipline reports, absences, etc.
