Interesting Facts about Learning Disabilities

15% of the United States' population (1 person out of every 7) has some type of learning disability.

Up to 80% of students with learning disabilities experience reading problems.

Learning disabilities often run in families.

A learning disability IS NOT mental retardation, autism, deafness, blindness, a behavioral disorder, attention deficit disorder, or attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder.

A learning disability may occur ADD or ADHD.

Learning disabilities are not due to a lack of educational opportunities or attendance problems.
