Avon Community Unit School District #176 Board Member Vacancy
The Avon Community Unit School District #176 is accepting applications to fill the vacancy resulting from the resignation of a member of the Board of Education. A new member will be appointed, with the appointment period beginning with the next regular Board of Education meeting on December 15, 2010 and ending in April of 2011.
Applicants for the school board vacancy must be: a United States citizen; at least 18 years of age; a resident of Illinois and the district for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment; a registered voter; not a school trustee; not a child sex offender; not currently holding another incompatible public office; not having a prohibited interest in any contract with the district; not currently holding prohibited state or federal employment.
Applicants should show familiarity with the school board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a school board and a school board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban. The board’s policies are available for review at the superintendent’s office or online at http://tinyurl.com/y4fqt4w.
Applications may be obtained at the superintendent’s office, 320 East Wood Street, Avon, Illinois, beginning November 16, 2010. The form is also available on the district website (see link below). Completed applications must be turned in by 4:00 pm December 10, 2010 to Dawn Ginther, superintendent’s secretary.
